Villa Maria Christina, Brownsboro, Alabama

4,350 square feet

This home was inspired by the great county estates of the past. Sited on five acres of horse pasture and surrounded by views of the southern Appalachian mountains; the house recalls the country villas of Andrea Palladio as well as the plantation homes of the deep south. North Alabama has many fine examples of Georgian/Federal style architecture which provided guidance in detailing of this house. As in the great country estates of the past, this house embraces the land on which it rests. A formal courtyard is created to the front by the symmetrical garage and guesthouse. At the rear, a bi-level loggia creates a sheltered space from which the residents can enjoy the view.
